The Relationship between Covert Narcissism and Social Anxiety: The Mediating Effects of Self-Consciousness

|
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of Self-Consciousness on the relationship between covert narcissism and Social Anxiety. Survey for this study was conducted to 326 high scool students in Metropolitan Seoul with Covert Narcissism Scale(CNS), Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents(SAS-A), Contact-Boundary Disturbance scale. Deta were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 and AMOS 16.0. The results of this study were as follows : First, covert narcissism was positively correlated with Social Anxiety and Self-Consciousness. Second, the relationship analysis by Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) demonstrated that Self-Consciousness was partly mediated the relation between covert narcissism and Social Anxiety. Finally, based on the results, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
